SUMMARY:Held in the Light: Paul Batch Show & Orleans Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join artists\, friends and neighbors and discover the latest works by Paul Batch; paintings that linger in quiet moments\, where light softens form and time slows down\, and the ordinary becomes something worthy of stillness. The work is shaped by coastal air\, shifting weather\, and the familiar calm of places returned to again and again. \nPaul will give a casual oil painting demonstration at the Gallery at 3:00. From 4:00 enjoy live music by Cape favorite Sarah Burrill\, wine and nibbles. The work may be previewed online (addisonart.com) and at Addison Art Gallery\, 43 South Orleans Road\, Orleans\, MA. \nThe Addison Art Gallery will also be presenting works created that day as part of the ever-popular Orleans Garden Tour. For more information on the tour\, visit orleansimprovement.org. \nAbout the Artist\nBatch is a contemporary painter praised for his evocative atmospheric landscapes. His paintings are a poetic response to the fleeting and ephemeral light cast by the passing sun or rising moon. He focuses on transitions\, painting various times of day\, changing weather\, and the rich seasons New England offers. \n“My work reflects the tone and qualities offered by nature. I strive to convey a felt experience through my art. Though most of my work is representational\, I keep myself open to embracing the more abstract elements of each individual scene.” —Paul Batch \nPaul received his BFA and MFA from the Hartford Art School where he studied under the late great Stephen Brown. He is an award-winning member of Oil Painters of America and Portrait Society of America. His work has appeared in numerous publications including the Artist’s Magazine\, International Artist and Fine Art Connoisseur.

SUMMARY:Summer Impressions: Maryalice Eizenberg One Woman Show
DESCRIPTION:Demonstration at 4:00; reception 5:00 to 7:00Music by Larry Murray\nMaryalice Eizenberg’s exuberant paintings bring joy to any setting. Her passion for plein air and skillful portray of light has been augmented by still lifes set in sunlight. Her work is the result of the rhythm and light patterns she sees in her surroundings.\nEizenberg came to the Cape for the first time when she was six years old. Her family would come annually to the Cape and the Outer Cape burrowed deep into her heart. She made herself a promise: someday it would be her home. The access to art\, music\, and an egalitarian society that is Provincetown and the history of Cape Cod nourished that promise.\nArt and music have always been an integral part of Maryalice’s life. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clark University and studied at the Museum School of the Worcester Art Museum. After graduation her art studies continued with numerous\, accomplished American painters.\nWe hope you can join us and discover the works often referred to “parties in frames”.

SUMMARY:Wild Lives Andrea Petitto One Woman Show
DESCRIPTION:Demonstration at 4:00\, reception 5:00 to 7:00Live music\n\nAndrea Petitto has always been fascinated by the natural world. Earlier in life this led her to scientific explorations of how nature works. According to Petitto\, “the need to create eventually won out and I became an artist immersed in observing and representing themes in the lives of people. Now I have returned to the study of nature but this time as an artist.”\n\nThrough direct observation and 24-hour trail cam footage\, she observes our wild neighbors. Her latest works show us the great beauty and emotional depth in the lives of woodland creatures\, adding a dimension to this exhibit that will also include portrayals of her fellow two-legged animals.\nAndrea Petitto was born in rural Massachusetts where\, in her youth\, she had to choose between art and science. Andrea’s father had been a sculptor and Andrea grew up making things with modeling clay. Instead of the usual children’s literature\, as a small child Andrea was fascinated by the images in large folio books of Rodin and Michelangelo sculptures. These influences can still be seen in the strong sense of solidity and form in her paintings. In 1990\, after a career as university professor and industry consultant\, she moved to art.\n\nAndrea has now devoted herself to the study of painting and works as a full-time artist with a particular passion for the human figure and animals often situated in their natural worlds.\n\nAndrea taught art classes at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua NY\, Cape Cod Art Association in Barnstable and Creative Arts Center\, Chatham. She has had solo shows in Canandaigua and at the Copley Society in Boston\, and has won many awards in Rochester\, NY\, Boston’s Copley Society\, and at many venues on Cape Cod.

SUMMARY:Collecting by the Shore: Cleber Stecei One Man Show
DESCRIPTION:Painting demonstration at 4:00\, Reception 5:00 to 7:00Music by Thom Dutton Troubadour Harper\nBorn in Brazil in 1976\, now proudly a naturalized citizen\, Cleber Stecei began experimenting with abstract painting as a teenager. After arriving in the United States at the age of 19\, he won awards for his abstracts. He became inspired by the beautiful New England scenery and has since excelled in landscape painting combining fine details and brave\, spontaneous brush work.\nAs well\, Stecei has a great appreciation for realistic portrayals of the human form\, and creates unique still life compositions.\nStecei is a member of the Cape Cod Art Association and his work has been awarded numerous times\, including a Best in Show. Since showing at the Addison Art Gallery\, his work has enthralled collectors as well as judges and has been featured in respected regional and national art publications.\n“A Master in the Making…represented by one of the Cape’s most prestigious galleries\, Addison Art in Orleans. Cleber Stecei paints weekly with the highly regarded Cape artist Paul Schulenburg.\nStecei’s reputation as a landscape artist has been rising like a mellow tide that is still building. His work has been noted in several national art publications and his paintings are in collections country-wide. Stecei’s talent\, age\, and new presence in the market have thrust him to the heady upper echelons of the art scene—all in less than 18 months.”—Mary Grauerholz\, Cape Cod Life
