SUMMARY:Honoring Karri Allrich and for Cape Wellness Collaborative
DESCRIPTION:A reception honoring Karri Allrich. Respected artists Jonathan Earle\, Maryalice Eizenberg\, and Andrea Petitto will demonstrate oil painting. Questions are encouraged while viewers of all ages watch paintings come to life. Guests will also be treated to live music by Cape favorite Sarah Swain. Winter’s chill will be further diminished by libations and nibbles from Mary’s Fine Provisions. \n  \nThe Addison Art Gallery first began representing Karri Allrich over 25 years ago. Grateful for her time with us and honoring her memory\, the Addison Art Gallery will donate a portion of her gallery sales to Cape Wellness Collaborative. \n  \nAllrich’s work is rooted in abstraction’s poetry of shapes and color\, inhabiting the space between perception and memory. Informed by her lifelong photography practice\, her paintings capture the shifting light and flickering impressions that linger in reflection. Through her lens of experience\, each painting became a language of presence\, atmosphere\, and emotion\, inviting viewers into a contemplative dialogue where meaning unfolds gradually\, resonating beyond the purely visual. \n  \n“While rooted in impressionism and influenced by Cezanne\, Van Gogh\, and Cassatt\, Allrich’s semi-abstract style encourages viewers to interpret and engage with the paintings in their own personal way. Her use of rich colors and impasto brushstrokes convey energy and sense of movement in the landscape. In her still life pieces\, flowers and fruit present an interplay of traditional form and abstraction\, conveying place and mood with atmosphere and light. Allrich works in layers\, building up surfaces with washes of thin paint\, followed by thicker areas using a palette knife and other textural tools allowing discovery to influence the process of creating.” Chris White\, Cape Cod Life \n  \nHer work can be found in prestigious collections including Nordstrom\, Julia Child\, Claire Murray Designs\, Roger Horchow\, Tower Records\, Los Angeles and others. \n  \nKarri Allrich passed in December 2025. She faced cancer the same way she faced everything else in her life\, with courage\, grace\, humility and humor.

SUMMARY:Live Music and Art honoring the Outer Cape Chorale
DESCRIPTION:Reception for the Outer Cape Chorale\, with Thom Dutton performing on his Celtic Harp and Maryalice Eizenberg and Cleber Stecei demonstrating oil painting. As it will be Valentine’s Day\, Thom will present some classical pieces along with a selection of love songs. This will be an opportunity for all to meet members of the Outer Cape Chorale and to learn about this cherished community group. Winter’s chill will be further diminished by libations and nibbles from Mary’s Fine Provisions.\n\n\n\nWork may be previewed at the Addison Art Gallery\, 43 Route 28\, Orleans and at addisonart.com. For more information and/or to reserve work\, please email Helen Addison at helen@addisonart.com or call 508.255.6200.\n\nAbout the Outer Cape Chorale\nUnder the director of Allison Beavan\, The Outer Cape Chorale is a welcoming\, non-auditioned chorus that fosters joyful\, excellent singing through diverse repertoire. The non-profit group brings the inspiration of choral music to the community at free concerts. With over 100 singers and accompanied by a live orchestra\, The Outer Cape Chorale offers exceptional musical experiences for the public as well as its performers. Members of the Chorale will sing in Paris this June at the invitation of Elaine Hagenberg\, composer of “Illuminare”\, which the Chorale performed last May.\nThe Outer Cape Chorale Chamber Singers\, a small auditioned ensemble\, presents free acapella concerts throughout the Lower and Outer Cape during summer months. They recently appeared at the American Revival event with YoYo Ma at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater.\n\nAbout Thom Dutton\nA graduate of Houghton College\, Thom began playing the harp because he could not carry his piano with him. Thus began a span of thirty-five years playing the harp at more than 1\,400 performances. He has been heard in concert from northern Vermont to northern Florida. He has played for the Lord Mayor of Chester in England\, as well as for fundraising concerts in Abingdon\, England and Coedpoeth\, Wales. Thom was a featured performer at the 1994 International Folk Harp Conference and has played at First Night celebrations for over twenty-five years\, in three states.\nHe was named Millennium Harper of Cape Cod by Harping for Harmony for having performed in all 29 nursing homes and rehab facilities on Cape Cod.\nOver the years\, Thom has been recognized with multiple awards. His honors include the Judge’s Overall Performance Award for Outstanding Musicianship at the New England Regional Folk Harp Competition and twice silver medalist at the Mid-Atlantic Folk Harp Competition. He has also received awards for playing incidental music for live theatrical productions: The Evelyn Lawson Award from the Association for Community Theater Excellence for “Eleemosynary” and a Certificate of Recognition Honoring Outstanding Achievement from the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theaters for Three Tall Women. Thom has recorded five critically acclaimed CDs and has published more than a dozen books of harp music.\n\nAbout Maryalice Eizenberg\nAn award-winning artist\, Maryalice Eizenberg has been drawing and painting all of her life. She completed coursework at the Worcester and Springfield Fine Arts museums\, earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Clark University\, and studied with painters John Cosby\, Donald Demers\, Kim English\,Daniel Keys\, Gregg Kreutz\, Joseph Paquet\, and Charles Sovek. Dramatic patterns of light and color are what attract her most to a subject. It is her emotional response to these elements that she strives to share with the viewer.Eizenberg has been featured in Cape Cod Life and Chatham magazines and “The Creative Spirit\, Art in Chatham’s Old Village.” Her work appears in Contemporary Cape Cod Artists: People and Places by Deborah Forman. She teaches at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham\, and is a member of Oil Painters of America\, and Twenty One in Truro. Her work has been shown in museums on and off the Cape. Her work is held in private collections in the United States\, Europe and Japan.\n\nAbout Cleber Stecei\nBorn in Brazil in 1976\, Cleber Stecei began experimenting with abstract painting as a teenager. After arriving in the United States at the age of 19\, he became inspired by the beautiful New England scenery and has since excelled in landscape painting. Stecei’s work is done from photographic references and on location (en plein air)\, allowing him to respond to the effects of natural light and atmosphere.\nStecei is a member of the Cape Cod Art Association and his work has been awarded numerous times\, including a Best in Show. Since showing at the Addison Art Gallery\, his work has enthralled collectors as well as judges and has been featured in respected regional and national art publications.

SUMMARY:First Friday Celebration with Live Art and Music
DESCRIPTION:Live music by Dario Acosta Teich and a pastel painting demonstration by master Amy Sanders\, and oil painting demonstration by respected instructor Jonathan McPhillips.\n\nAmy Sanders’ Artist’s Statement“While painting I become drawn into the scene. It’s an extraordinary sensation where I can feel the sand between my toes\, smell the salt air\, or hear the roar of the ocean. To bring that sensation to others is my primary goal.\n“I paint and am not a professional photographer because of the unique difference that painting brings to the scene. Many work is highly realistic\, with edges softer and colors richer than photographs. There is also a depth that one does not find in a photograph. Objects in the distance have smoother edges and less detail — more typical of how the eye sees than a camera. While I often use photographs for reference\, there is a richer emotion from the spectacular beauty of a scene when creating painting\, that I hope carries through to the viewer.”\n\nJonathan McPhillips’ Artist’s StatementI approach each painting as a delightful challenge\, a puzzle seeking completion\, and an ode to the beauty of our surroundings. My ultimate reward is knowing that my work has captivated the hearts and minds of both friends and strangers. In a world of digital clarity\, original artwork continues to offer a sense of mystery and enchantment. Through painting\, I strive to forge connections between hearts and minds\, unifying us through our shared experiences.

SUMMARY:Paul Schulenburg 25th Anniversary Reception
DESCRIPTION:Internationally collected\, Paul Schulenburg’s work has shown in the Hopper House Museum\, in solo shows at the Cape Cod Museum of Art\, and in many group exhibitions at CCMA\, Provincetown Art Association and Museum\, and Cahoon Museum of American Art. Schulenburg has appeared over a dozen times in respected national art publications including a feature in Fine Art Connoisseur\, as well as on the cover of American Art Collector. Schulenburg was awarded the Patrons’ Choice Award at the Copley Society of Art\, as well as a residency at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown\, MA. Work will be posted at addisonart.com as it is completed and may be reserved.\n\n\nKnown for the diversity of his subject matter\, the artist is respected for honoring coastal traditions\, specifically the fishing fleet. “Paul Schulenburg is one of those rare painters who can capture not just what something looks like but what it feels like…That alone makes his work a treasure.” —Sebastian Junger\, author of The Perfect Storm\nAccording to Nicholas Dawes\, Chairman and CEO\, Salmagundi Club\, New York\, “Paul Schulenburg is an American artist of the first order\, who carries the standards and tradition of Edward Hopper and our finest provocative plein air painters into a modern world. He has the ability to make the commonplace extraordinary\, and is equally at home in the unique light of Cape Cod\, or the nuance of a New York City streetscape.”\n\nA juried member of Oil Painters of America and the Portrait Society of America\, he has completed hundreds of figure and portrait studies and paintings featuring local characters along with many individuals recognized from stage and screen.\n\nWhile a strong connection American realism is seen in the current body of work\, the artist’s reach and growth is evident in a selection of paintings that explore a more expressive portrayal of scenes and some that further approach abstract compositions.\n\nIn 2020\, Addison Art Gallery published Paul Schulenburg Oil Paintings\, a 200-page\, full color book featuring over 200 paintings.\n“Paul Schulenburg has earned his place in the continuum of great American painting. The beauty and insightfulness of his New England and New York scenes reveal how closely he observes these places and their residents\, yet never does his art feel localized or story-driven. Instead\, Schulenburg’s skills in composing and use of values enable the paintings to transcend the here-and-now\, to become universal. Achieving this means imbuing his images with a subtle monumentality and even melancholy\, without calling our attention to either. Thus\, no matter how sunny his weather may be\, we sense a soulfulness that makes us stop and look again. In this breathless age of throwaway imagery\, it is both a relief and a privilege to stop and look again with Paul Schulenburg.” —Peter Trippi\, Editor-in-Chief\, Fine Art Connoisseur magazine\, New York\n\nPrior to becoming a full-time fine artist\, Schulenburg spent 20 years creating award-winning art for publication worldwide. His client list included: Digital Equipment Corporation\, Cigna\, Fidelity Investments\, Hewlett-Packard\, IBM\, Lucent Technologies\, Sunoco\, TIME\, U.S. News and World Report\, The Wall Street Journal\, Columbia Journalism Review\, Cahners\, Prentice Hall\, Houghton Mifflin\, and Ziff-Davis. During this period\, he was also commissioned by the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum to create a portrait of museum trustee Eliot Forbes. Schulenburg earned a BFA in painting at Boston University School. His oils can be found in prestigious collections throughout the United States\, in Canada\, Europe and Hong Kong.\n\nLive music by Dario Acosta Teich.

SUMMARY:First Friday Celebration with Art and Music
DESCRIPTION:Join artists\, friends and neighbors and discover the latest works by Paul Batch and others of the region’s most sought-after painters.\nPainting demonstration at 4:00\, at 5:00 live music by master jazz guitarist Fred Fried\, wine and nibbles.\n\nBatch is a contemporary painter praised for his evocative atmospheric landscapes. His paintings are a poetic response to the fleeting and ephemeral light cast by the passing sun or rising moon. He focuses on transitions\, painting various times of day\, changing weather\, and the rich seasons New England offers.\n“My work reflects the tone and qualities offered by nature. I strive to convey a felt experience through my art. Though most of my work is representational\, I keep myself open to embracing the more abstract elements of each individual scene.”\n\nPaul received his BFA and MFA from the Hartford Art School where he studied under the late great Stephen Brown. He is an award-winning member of Oil Painters of America and Portrait Society of America. His work has appeared in numerous publications including the Artist’s Magazine\, International Artist and Fine Art Connoisseur.

SUMMARY:'Tis the singing\, signing season
DESCRIPTION:Art show\, book signing and reception with a special guest for The Family Pantry. We hope you can join us in a toast to this most worthy organization. Mrs. Claus will be on hand to greet kids of all ages from 4:00 to 6:00 and American Idol finalist Natalia Bonfini will perform from 5:00 to 7:00. Wine\, nibbles and a chance to meet the artists will add to the festivities. \nHunger on Cape Cod and the Family Pantry\nMany find the depth of food insecurity on Cape Cod hard to believe. When you look at the cost of living vs. the lack of lucrative employment opportunities\, one must acknowledge the need. Two thirds of the clients who come to The Family Pantry have at least one person in the household working; often there are two people employed. \nThe Family Pantry is a non-profit\, non-denominational organization with over 650 volunteers and a small\, paid staff. In 2022\, the organization distributed over 130\,000 bags of groceries and 35 tons of gently used clothing. The Family Pantry partners with the Greater Boston Food Bank to support the 28 pantries/soup kitchens on the Cape and Islands. \nFamilies/Individuals are welcome to return to the Pantry every 10 days for food and clothing. The Family Pantry is a choice pantry which means each client selects the products they want. A large selection of healthy foods including cheese\, eggs\, fresh produce as well as the canned and packaged food products are offered. \nPerhaps the star of the weekend\, Mrs. Claus (Bev Fuller) has been spreading good\, old-fashioned cheer for two decades. While little ones can be afraid of Santa Claus\, it’s heartwarming to see how they brighten up around his grandmotherly wife. \nAuthor Dr. Michael Pregot has spent over a half of a century in the field of education. He has served as a Modern Language teacher\, high school principal\, school superintendent\, professor of education and University Director of an Educational Leadership Department. \nNow a researcher and chronicler\, he will be signing Slavery and Abolitionism on Cape Cod and Sea Captains of Cape Cod\, each an opportunity to explore the intriguing people that came before us on this land. \nFrom the era of the Puritans right through to the end of the Revolutionary War\, Boston was a central hub for the slave trade. Slaves were brought on board ships from the African coast with regularity\, often mastered by Cape Cod Sea captains. The number of slaves per household was much smaller in the Northeast as compared to the South\, yet a larger labor force was desired. \nCape Cod has long been a focal point of our country’s maritime activities from the very beginning of the pre-colonial period\, through our wars with England\, into the great age of sail\, right into our current preoccupation with protecting the right whale and announcing shark alerts. Sea captains from every town have distinguished themselves by opening new harbors for trade\, participating in naval excursions\, and demonstrating a pragmatic genius with their nautical skills. \nMoving to fiction. . . \nJeannette de Beauvoir is an award-winning author of historical and mystery fiction as well as of poetry\, whose work has appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies. She is a member of the Authors Guild\, the Mystery Writers of America\, Sisters in Crime\, and the Historical Novels Society. She’s is an admired theatre critic and host of an arts program on WOMR\, a Pacifica Radio affiliate. \nProvincetown is the setting for a series of mysteries solved by protagonist Sydney Riley. Her reluctant hobby\, however\, has become murder. With help from best friend Mirela and boyfriend Ali\, she solves the crimes with a self-deprecating sense of humor.\nThe mystery is a part of the book\, but learning about the people\, the landmarks\, the culture\, and also important social issues makes her books wonderful (and just like Ms. Leon does with Venice). One is transported to Commercial Street or the Stop & Shop\, even the Methodist Thrift Store when reading her books. \nFor more information on The Family Pantry visit https://www.thefamilypantry.com\nFor more information on the benefit\, and/or additional images\, please contact Helen Addison at helen@addisonart.com or 508.255.6200.

SUMMARY:Art and Artists for Cape Cod Foster Children
DESCRIPTION:Everyone is invited to join us in a toast to the Cape Cod Foster Closet\, a most worthy organization. Live music by master jazz guitarist Fred Fried\, wine and nibbles will add to the fun. \nChildren frequently enter foster care with no belongings\, or with a trash bag containing nothing that even belongs to them. \nThe Cape Cod Foster Closet provides free\, new and nearly-new clothing\, shoes\, outerwear\, school supplies\, baby gear\, and more for local children (newborn to 18) who are being raised by someone other than their biological parent. From their storefront in Orleans\, Foster Closet volunteers cover the Cape and Islands providing critically needed supplies\, as well as community connection\, information on other services\, and a listening ear\, for often uniquely isolated caregivers. \n“It truly takes a village!” says Co-founder and Program Director Sharon Palmer. “We are very grateful to Helen Addison for helping to increase awareness of the numbers of children in care on the Cape and Islands and for hosting this event to help ensure that we can continue to support local foster and relative caregiver families.” \nFor more information on the Cape Cod Foster Closet visit capecodfostercloset.org.\nFor more information on the benefit\, and/or additional images\, please contact Helen Addison at helen@addisonart.com or 508.255.6200.

SUMMARY:Beyond Bohemia at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater
DESCRIPTION:Join artists and friends celebrating the Beyond Bohemia exhibition. \nCape Cod’s naturally spectacular environment and cultural community continuously draw people from across the globe. As John Taylor Williams wrote\, this was true over 100 years ago as well. “Beginning around 1910\, those dedicated to radical political reform\, a new exploration of personal relationships free from Victorian strictures\, and a search for the new ‘American’ voice in writing\, painting\, architecture\, and theater congregated . . .” —The Shores of Bohemia\, A Cape Cod Story\, 1910-1960 \nHonoring this history and celebrating contemporary creators\, the Addison Art Gallery developed “Beyond Bohemia”—multi-media efforts including art exhibitions\, book signings\, panels\, music\, and plein air gatherings. Work by dozens of artists from across the United States and abroad are being shown in changing exhibits. \nCape Cod has long offered a plethora of opportunities for these diverse endeavors. “Few travelers are experts in American history or architecture\, in geology\, Atlantic coast fishing\, the modern theater\, antiques\, painting and marine biology. And yet when you visit the Cape all these are at hand\, tied up in a tight\, neat piece of country smelling of pine and offered you at the Canal Bridge like a prize box. There is so much packed into a small space in that magnificent yet cozy world called Cape Cod that fires the imagination. You want to know a lot of things\, all kinds of things on sea and land.” —Down Cape Cod by Katherine Dos Passos and Edith Shay (written in 1936)
