Laurence Young grew up in Newton, MA, finding solace in the rural haven surrounding his childhood home. His interest in nature, and skillful ability to capture it, opened the door to what would become a 30-year career as an artist. In 1974, Laurence graduated with honors from the University of Hartford, earning a bachelor’s degree in art education. He earned his master’s degree in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Initially working as a plain-air painter under the tutelage of Lois Griffel, then director of the Cape School of Art, he excelled. His innate color sense and dynamic line work create a unique visual language that is very much his own.

Laurence has had a successful career as a professional artist. His work is part of public and private collections including the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, New Jersey State Museum, Trenton, NJ and the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of art in Hartford, CT.
