Learn how Beston’s trail to Cape Cod began in World War I, how he tapped into the healing power of nature on the Outer Beach, how The Outermost House inspired legislators in Washington to establish the Cape Cod National Seashore, and the influence The Outermost House had on Rachel Carson and the American environmental movement. Archival photos and footage from the Beston/Outermost House documentary film will be included. Wilding will be available to sign books before and after his talk.
SaraJane will demonstrate the tonal sketch technique with raw umber on linen to establish the drawing and values for the rest of the painting.
Sharon McGauley will be painting a tiny oil painting from a combination of sketches and photos. She will be working with her plein air easel and recent photographs.
