Amy will demonstrate building depth and luminosity with pastel as she works towards bringing a painting to life through the building up of multiple layers. Maryalice Eizenberg and Susan Overstreet will be painting in oil plein air (outside, weather permitting) and Amy Sanders will be working in pastel inside the Museum.

Maryalice Eizenberg Painting Demonstration

Working in oil, Eizenberg will demonstrate how she constructs the foundation of a successful painting by taking a blank canvas and creating a monochromatic underpainting on which subsequent layers of paint will be applied until the work is complete.

Celebrate our Waters Plein Air Painting

As part of the 2018 Celebrate our Waters weekend, the Addison Art Gallery is sponsoring plein air painting, a fresh paint exhibition, book signing, reception and demonstration. Artists from Cape Cod and beyond will be painting at waterside sites around Orleans including Rock Harbor, Little Pleasant Bay at Paw Wah Landing, Town Cove and Pleasant Bay Community Boating. Their wet paintings will be brought to the Addison Art Gallery for an exhibition and reception from 4 to 6.
