Amy will demonstrate building depth and luminosity with pastel as she works towards bringing a painting to life through the building up of multiple layers. Pastel is a unique medium, in that the pigment particles retain their individuality within layers. Learn how Beston’s trail to Cape Cod began in World War I, how he tapped into the healing power of nature on the Outer Beach, how The Outermost House inspired legislators in Washington to establish the Cape Cod National Seashore, and the influence The Outermost House had on Rachel Carson and the American environmental movement. Archival photos and footage from the Beston/Outermost House documentary film will be included. Wilding will be available to sign books before and after his talk.
