Sharon McGauley will be painting a tiny oil painting from a combination of sketches and photos. She will be working with her plein air easel and recent photographs.
Paul Batch will demonstrate his approach to painting Cape Cod dunes. Emphasis will be on simplification of the subject and paint application. All materials used will be explained in detail.
Working in oil, Eizenberg will demonstrate how she constructs the foundation of a successful painting by taking a blank canvas and creating a monochromatic underpainting on which subsequent layers of paint will be applied until the work is complete.
Amy will demonstrate building depth and luminosity with pastel as she works towards bringing a painting to life through the multiple layers. Pastel particles retain their individuality within layers. If carefully layered using strokes in a variety of colors, weights and direction, light bounces among the particles creating a unique radiance. Audience questions and comments will be encouraged and add to the afternoon.
Paul Schulenburg has organized a group of artists to paint a live model from 1:00 to 3:300. The public is invited to watch the Figure Painters at Work, welcome to ask them questions as they progress, and to stay until 4:00 for extra time to explore the works and chat with the creators.
