Like many artists of today, Edward Hopper was inspired by Cape’s natural, stunning light. Join us to see artists create onsite and learn more about their techniques. Artists planning to participate include Linda Beach, Maryalice Eizenberg, Steve Kennedy, Laura Levine, Rosalie Nadeau, Susan Overstreet, Carol Petretti and Paul Schulenburg. In the case of rain, the artists will paint inside the Cape Cod Museum of Art.
In their own distinct painting styles, popular artists Maryalice Eizenberg and Susan Overstreet will demonstrate capturing the beauty and wonders of our waters on canvas.
Two popular Addison Art Gallery artists, Maryalice Eizenberg and Susan Overstreet will paint at Nauset Farms, capturing the artistic beauty of unique desserts and a classic still life of fine wine and cheeses. The finished paintings will be part of the "Catering to Locals" exhibition with a reception at the Addison Art Gallery from 3 to 5 featuring an array of delectables presented by the Nauset Farms catering staff. Proceeds to benefit the Orleans Historical Society.
Satisfy your curiosity about plein air painting by watching Maryalice Eizenberg paint along Main Street in Wellfleet. She is an energetic instructor who enjoys answering questions while she paints and her demos are always entertaining and informative.
Susan will demonstrate how she uses a small plein air study to create a larger studio piece. Influenced by the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist, the use of wet on wet, broken color and loaded brush will be discussed.
Fay will demonstrate how she works to capture the changing effects of afternoon light and shadow.
Steve will discuss materials, choice of colors and subject, and how to begin a plein air piece while painting, as well as how Hopper’s work influences his own.
Marc Kundmann, who known for his effective use of the luminous and layered properties of the encaustic medium, will demonstrate and talk about how to bring these same qualities to acrylic painting.
See painters capture the drama, beauty and history of Truro's shores and uplands, then join them for a show and reception at the Truro Public Library at 5 pm.
