Held in the Light: Paul Batch Show & Orleans Garden Tour

Join artists, friends and neighbors and discover the latest works by Paul Batch; paintings that linger in quiet moments, where light softens form and time slows down, and the ordinary becomes something worthy of stillness. The work is shaped by coastal air, shifting weather, and the familiar calm of places returned to again and again.
Paul will give a casual oil painting demonstration at the Gallery at 3:00. From 4:00 enjoy live music by Cape favorite Sarah Burrill, wine and nibbles. The work may be previewed online (addisonart.com) and at Addison Art Gallery, 43 South Orleans Road, Orleans, MA.
The Addison Art Gallery will also be presenting works created that day as part of the ever-popular Orleans Garden Tour. For more information on the tour, visit orleansimprovement.org.
About the Artist
Batch is a contemporary painter praised for his evocative atmospheric landscapes. His paintings are a poetic response to the fleeting and ephemeral light cast by the passing sun or rising moon. He focuses on transitions, painting various times of day, changing weather, and the rich seasons New England offers.
“My work reflects the tone and qualities offered by nature. I strive to convey a felt experience through my art. Though most of my work is representational, I keep myself open to embracing the more abstract elements of each individual scene.” —Paul Batch
Paul received his BFA and MFA from the Hartford Art School where he studied under the late great Stephen Brown. He is an award-winning member of Oil Painters of America and Portrait Society of America. His work has appeared in numerous publications including the Artist’s Magazine, International Artist and Fine Art Connoisseur.
